April was an eventful month and one where I wanted to explore film photography further. Near the start of the month, I saw the cherry blossom trees at the Japanese Friendship Garden over at Balboa Park and brought my Kiev 4a rangefinder camera along. Apparently the bloom arrived early this year, so it was going to be a busy event. Getting to the garden was quite the effort, but seeing the cherry blossoms up close was worth the wait. Shortly after, I found a great deal on eBay for a Canon Canonet 19. With its sleek and interesting design, it was hard to pass up. Excited to see it in action, I was quick to take it out for a test run after receiving it in the mail. Using a roll of Lomography Lady Grey ISO 400, I took it out to the beach after work one day and went on shooting. The camera itself is a little quirky to use at first, especially with the advance lever at the bottom and the using the rangefinder, but it was not hard to get used to. Surprisingly, the shutter priority mode was still working despite all these years.
